With the world in such a state of turmoil, it can be difficult to be always positive and upbeat. But as salespeople, that’s exactly what we need to do.
Here are a few ways you might find useful:
🔹 Can you walk and talk to your customers either virtually or in person if that’s appropriate and their thing, too? Walking meetings are very popular.
🔹 Break your day up into smaller chunks and have short breaks to regroup and recharge. Stand in the sun for a few minutes, walk around the block – anything that gives you an opportunity to switch off for a short time.
🔹 Find podcasts that inspire, motivate and inspire you, or that make you laugh – both for work and your personal life (ask for recommendations on LinkedIn). I enjoy The Brutal Truth about Sales and Selling
🔹 Change where you have your coffee meetings. Is there a café that’s more relaxing, green, with a pleasant courtyard that you could stay in after the meeting and work from?
🔹 Start a small networking group of like-minded individuals and share ideas and experiences. If you are a solo business owner you will find this extremely helpful.
🔹 Watch more comedies. We all need more humour in our lives.
🔹 Be mindful to have the work/life balance and consciously stop at the end of the day.
🔹 Ring a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while to check in with them.
🔹 Get regular exercise. I enjoy yoga and pilates throughout my work week. They might not be your thing but whatever is, make it consistent as you never regret it.
🔹 If your team doesn’t do anything social and you enjoy that, start your own virtual drinks on Friday with a small group of friends or colleagues.
What do you do to keep your energy up and your spirits high?
